Ingredients
Scale
1 medium head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water (slurry)
Sesame seeds, for garnish
Chopped green onions, for garnish
Instructions
In a large bowl, toss the cauliflower florets with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the coated cauliflower in a single layer in the basket, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
Air fry at 380°F (195°C) for 10 minutes.
While the cauliflower cooks, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, water, brown sugar, rice vinegar, ginger, and minced garlic. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
Whisk in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in the sesame oil.
After the initial 10 minutes of air frying, toss the cauliflower with the olive oil. Continue to air fry for another 8 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the cauliflower is golden brown and crispy.
Place the hot, crispy cauliflower in a large bowl. Pour about half of the teriyaki sauce over the cauliflower and toss gently to coat. Add more sauce as desired.
Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
Notes
For extra crispiness, ensure the cauliflower florets are completely dry before tossing them with the cornstarch mixture.
Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches for the best texture.
Reserve some of the teriyaki sauce for dipping or drizzling after cooking.
