Ingredients
Scale
1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
Instructions
Press the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess water. Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes.
In a medium bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until lightly coated.
Place the coated tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary.
Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the tofu is golden brown and crispy.
While the tofu cooks, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and grated ginger.
Once the tofu is crispy, transfer it to a clean bowl. Pour the prepared glaze over the hot tofu and toss gently until every piece is coated.
Serve immediately.
Notes
Pressing the tofu thoroughly is key to achieving the best crispy texture in the air fryer.
For an extra layer of flavor, you can lightly spray the tofu with cooking spray before adding the cornstarch coating.
If you prefer a thicker glaze, simmer the sauce mixture in a small saucepan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until it reduces slightly before tossing with the tofu.
