Ingredients
Scale
1.5 lbs lean ground turkey (93% lean or higher)
1 large egg
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (Panko or regular)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 slices cheese (optional, like Provolone or Swiss)
4 whole wheat or brioche buns
Toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles
Instructions
In a large bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix just until combined; do not overmix.
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Create a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing.
Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
Place the turkey patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap. Work in batches if necessary.
Air fry for 10 minutes.
Flip the patties carefully. If using cheese, place one slice on each patty now.
Continue to air fry for another 3 to 5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) when checked with a meat thermometer.
Remove the burgers from the air fryer. Let them rest for 2 minutes before serving.
Serve immediately on buns with your preferred toppings.
Notes
To keep the burgers moist, avoid pressing down on them while they cook in the air fryer.
For extra flavor, mix 1 tablespoon of finely chopped fresh parsley into the meat mixture.
If your turkey is very lean (99%), you can add 1 teaspoon of olive oil directly to the meat mixture for added moisture.
