Make this rich, thick, and tangy blue cheese dip at home. It tastes better than store-bought and is perfect for serving with buffalo wings, raw vegetables, or chips. This quick recipe is a game day essential.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces good quality blue cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Place the crumbled blue cheese into a medium bowl.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, sour cream, white vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper to the bowl.
  3. Use a fork or a hand mixer to combine the ingredients until the mixture is mostly smooth but still has small chunks of blue cheese visible for texture. Do not overmix.
  4. Stir in the fresh lemon juice.
  5. Taste the dip and adjust seasonings if necessary. You might want more pepper or a touch more tang from the vinegar.
  6. Cover the bowl and chill the blue cheese dip in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to fully meld.
  7. Serve cold with your favorite accompaniments like chicken wings, celery sticks, carrots, or sturdy chips.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute half of the mayonnaise with plain Greek yogurt.
  • If you prefer a smoother texture, blend all ingredients in a food processor until creamy, but remember to leave some small crumbles for visual appeal.
  • This dip makes an excellent, rich topping for salads or baked potatoes.
