Make this refreshing and simple smoothie featuring blueberries, lemon, and chia seeds for a quick, healthy boost.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or water/coconut water)
  • 1/2 fresh lemon, juiced (about 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 frozen banana (optional, for sweetness and thickness)
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey (optional, adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Place the frozen blueberries, almond milk, lemon juice, chia seeds, and optional banana and sweetener into your blender.
  2. Secure the lid and blend on high speed until completely smooth. Start slow and increase speed as needed.
  3. If the smoothie is too thick, add liquid, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. If the smoothie is too thin, add a few more frozen blueberries or a few ice cubes and blend again.
  5. Pour immediately into a glass and serve.

Notes

  • For a thicker smoothie or smoothie bowl, reduce the liquid to 1/3 cup initially.
  • If you prefer a less tart flavor, start with half a lemon’s juice and taste before adding more.
  • You can soak the chia seeds in the almond milk for 10 minutes before blending to create a thicker, gel-like texture immediately.
  • Add one scoop of vanilla or unflavored protein powder for an extra protein boost.
