This quick avocado sauce recipe delivers creamy texture and zesty flavor, perfect for tacos, burritos, or as a healthy dip. You can make this versatile topping in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 1/4 cup water (or more, for desired consistency)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt or dairy-free alternative for extra creaminess
  • Optional: 1/4 jalapeño, seeded (for heat)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients: Halve and pit the avocados. Measure out the cilantro, lime juice, and other seasonings.
  2. Combine ingredients: Place the avocado flesh, cilantro, lime juice, water, garlic, salt, and pepper into a food processor or high-speed blender. Add the optional Greek yogurt or jalapeño now if you are using them.
  3. Blend until smooth: Process the mixture until it is completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
  4. Adjust consistency: If the sauce is too thick for your liking, add water one tablespoon at a time while blending until you reach your desired drizzling or dipping consistency. This is your creamy avocado sauce.
  5. Taste and adjust: Taste the sauce and add more salt or lime juice if necessary.
  6. Serve immediately: Use this fresh avocado sauce as a topping for tacos, a dressing for salads, or a dip for vegetables.

Notes

  • For a Keto Avocado Sauce or Whole30 Avocado Sauce, skip the optional Greek yogurt. The natural fats in the avocado keep it rich.
  • If you want a thinner Avocado Drizzle Recipe, increase the water content slightly.
  • This recipe is naturally Vegan Avocado Sauce and Dairy Free Avocado Sauce when made without yogurt.
