Make perfectly crunchy, flavorful cauliflower wings in your air fryer. This recipe focuses on achieving maximum crispiness without deep frying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head of cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup unsweetened plant milk (or water)
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs (optional, for extra crunch)
  • Cooking spray (oil-based)
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (or your preferred sauce)

Instructions

  1. Dry the cauliflower florets thoroughly using paper towels. This step is key for crispiness.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Pour the plant milk into a separate shallow bowl.
  4. Dip each cauliflower floret first into the dry flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  5. Next, dip the floured floret into the plant milk, letting excess drip off.
  6. If using panko, press the wet floret lightly into the panko breadcrumbs to coat.
  7. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C).
  8. Arrange the coated florets in a single layer in the air fryer basket, working in batches if necessary. Do not overcrowd the basket.
  9. Lightly spray the tops of the florets with cooking spray.
  10. Air fry for 10 minutes.
  11. Flip the florets, spray the other side lightly with cooking spray, and air fry for another 8 to 10 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  12. Remove the crispy cauliflower from the air fryer.
  13. Place the hot wings in a large bowl and toss immediately with the buffalo sauce until evenly coated.
  14. Serve immediately with your favorite dip.

Notes

  • For the crispiest results, avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed.
  • If you prefer a thicker batter, add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to the dry flour mixture.
  • If you are not saucing them immediately, you can skip the sauce step and toss them with sauce just before serving to maintain maximum crunch.
  • For a low-carb option, skip the flour and panko; toss the dried cauliflower directly in a light coating of oil and spices, then air fry.
