Ingredients
Scale
2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
Pat the chicken wings very dry using paper towels. This step is important for crispiness.
In a medium bowl, mix the baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper to create the dry rub.
Add the dried chicken wings to the bowl and toss until every piece is evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit (195 degrees Celsius).
Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring there is space between pieces for air circulation. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
Air fry for 20 minutes at 380 degrees Fahrenheit.
After 20 minutes, increase the temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius) and cook for an additional 5 to 8 minutes, or until the wings are deep golden brown and very crispy.
Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.
Notes
Baking powder raises the pH level of the skin, which helps break down proteins and promotes maximum crisping during cooking.
For sauced wings, toss the cooked, crispy wings in your favorite sauce immediately after removing them from the air fryer.
If your wings are frozen, thaw them completely before seasoning and cooking.
