Make this easy, tangy, and creamy cold clam dip using cream cheese and canned clams. It is the perfect party dip for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 (6.5 ounce) can minced clams, drained well
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (scallions)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spoon to beat them together until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the drained minced clams, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder to the cream cheese mixture. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Stir in the chopped green onions.
  4. Taste the dip and season with salt and black pepper as needed. Remember that the clams may add some saltiness.
  5. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate the clam dip for at least 1 hour before serving. Chilling allows the flavors to meld together.
  6. Serve your best clam dip cold with potato chips, sturdy crackers, or fresh vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • For the best texture, make sure you drain the canned clams very thoroughly before adding them to the dip base.
  • If you prefer a slightly tangier dip, substitute half of the sour cream with plain Greek yogurt.
  • This recipe makes a fantastic retro clam dip that guests always request again.
