Ingredients
Scale
1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
6 cloves fresh garlic, minced finely
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
Place the softened butter in a medium bowl.
Add the minced fresh garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper to the butter. If using, add the lemon juice now.
Use a fork or rubber spatula to thoroughly mix all ingredients until they are evenly combined and the mixture is uniform in color.
For immediate use, you can serve it soft. For shaping, transfer the butter mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap or parchment paper.
Roll the butter into a tight log shape, twisting the ends to seal it.
Refrigerate the log for at least 1 hour until firm.
Slice off rounds of the chilled butter to use as needed.
Notes
For a spicier version, add 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes with the other seasonings.
To store, keep the wrapped log in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
To freeze, wrap the log tightly in plastic wrap and then aluminum foil. Freeze for up to three months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before using.
Use this butter on steak, shrimp, corn on the cob, or spread it thickly on French bread before toasting.
