Make a thick, icy, and refreshing blueberry lemonade slush at home using fresh or frozen blueberries and real lemon juice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4-5 lemons)
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup extra water for dissolving sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar and 1/4 cup extra water in a small saucepan. Heat gently, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely to create a simple syrup. Let the syrup cool slightly.
  2. In a blender, combine the cooled simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, 1 cup cold water, frozen blueberries, and ice cubes.
  3. Secure the lid and blend on high speed. Start with short pulses, then blend continuously until the mixture is smooth but still thick and icy, resembling a slush consistency. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides.
  4. If the mixture is too thick to blend, add one tablespoon of cold water at a time until the blades move freely, but avoid making it too watery.
  5. Pour the Iced Blueberry Lemonade Slush immediately into serving glasses.
  6. Serve cold.

Notes

  • For a deeper blueberry flavor, use only frozen blueberries instead of ice cubes, reducing the ice to 1 cup and increasing frozen blueberries to 2 cups.
  • Substitute the granulated sugar with honey or agave nectar for a different sweetener profile. Adjust the amount based on the tartness of your lemons.
  • If you prefer a less intense color, use fresh blueberries instead of frozen, but you will need to increase the ice quantity slightly.
