Make a layered, sweet, and creamy Iced Caramel Macchiato at home using this straightforward recipe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy alternative)
  • 3 tablespoons vanilla syrup
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 2 shots espresso (about 2 ounces) or 4 ounces strong brewed coffee
  • 2 tablespoons caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the caramel sauce if making from scratch, or measure out 2 tablespoons.
  2. Pour the vanilla syrup into the bottom of a tall glass.
  3. Add the milk to the glass over the syrup.
  4. Fill the glass completely with ice cubes.
  5. Gently pour the 2 shots of espresso (or strong coffee) over the ice. Pouring slowly helps maintain the layers.
  6. Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce over the top of the drink in a cross-hatch pattern for presentation.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • If you do not have an espresso maker, use 4 ounces of very strong brewed coffee or coffee concentrate.
  • For a dairy-free version, use oat milk or almond milk; these substitute well for whole milk.
  • To make a quick caramel sauce, heat 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup butter, and 1/4 cup heavy cream until smooth.
  • The layering order is crucial: syrup, milk, ice, espresso, then caramel drizzle.
