Ingredients
Scale
1 teaspoon ceremonial grade matcha powder
2 tablespoons hot water (175°F / 80°C)
6 ounces pineapple juice, chilled
4 ounces cold water or coconut water
1 teaspoon simple syrup or sweetener of choice (optional)
Ice cubes
Instructions
Place the matcha powder into a small bowl or matcha bowl.
Pour the 2 tablespoons of hot water over the matcha.
Whisk the matcha vigorously using a bamboo whisk or a small electric frother until it is completely smooth and slightly frothy, with no clumps remaining.
In a separate tall glass, combine the chilled pineapple juice, cold water (or coconut water), and optional sweetener. Stir well.
Fill your serving glass completely with ice cubes.
Slowly pour the prepared matcha mixture over the ice and juice mixture.
Stir gently once or twice to combine the layers slightly before drinking. Serve immediately.
Notes
For a stronger matcha flavor, increase the powder to 1.5 teaspoons.
Use fresh pineapple juice if possible for the best taste.
If you do not have simple syrup, dissolve 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar in the hot water before whisking the matcha.
