This recipe provides instructions for making flavorful salmon fillets coated in a rich garlic butter sauce, suitable for a ketogenic diet.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
  4. Remove the butter mixture from the heat. Stir in the lemon juice and dried parsley.
  5. Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Brush half of the garlic butter mixture evenly over the tops of the fillets.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the salmon, until it flakes easily with a fork.
  7. While the salmon bakes, heat the olive oil in a small skillet over medium heat.
  8. Once the salmon is nearly done, quickly sear the skin side (if present) in the hot oil for 1-2 minutes for crispiness, or skip this step if you prefer only baked salmon.
  9. Remove the salmon from the oven. Drizzle the remaining garlic butter sauce over the cooked fillets before serving.

Notes

  • For a low-carb side dish, serve this salmon with steamed asparagus or roasted broccoli tossed in olive oil.
  • You can pan-sear the salmon entirely instead of baking; cook skin-side down for 5-7 minutes, flip, and cook for another 3-5 minutes, basting with the garlic butter sauce during the last few minutes.
  • Use fresh parsley for the best flavor if available.
