You deserve comfort food without the fuss. This Lazy Lasagna uses frozen ravioli as a simple shortcut, layering it with sauce and cheese for a cheesy pasta bake ready fast. It is the effortless comfort food you need for a busy weeknight.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (25 ounce) package frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Mix well until the cheese mixture is smooth.
  3. Spread about 1 cup of marinara sauce evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. Arrange half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce.
  5. Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the ravioli layer.
  6. Spoon another 1 cup of marinara sauce over the ricotta.
  7. Sprinkle 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce layer.
  8. Repeat the layers: remaining ravioli, remaining ricotta mixture, and remaining marinara sauce.
  9. Top the casserole evenly with the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and all of the Parmesan cheese.
  10. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and the cheese is melted and lightly golden brown.
  11. Let the casserole rest for 5 to 10 minutes before you cut and serve it.

Notes

  • For a meatier version, brown 1 pound of ground beef or Italian sausage and mix it into the jar of marinara sauce before layering.
  • If you do not have ricotta cheese, cottage cheese works well in this simple Italian dinner idea.
  • This recipe is a great base for a kid friendly dinner recipe; feel free to add cooked, chopped vegetables to the sauce layer.
