Create bakery-style pumpkin Danish pastries at home. These treats feature a flaky puff pastry filled with a creamy pumpkin and cream cheese mixture, topped with a sweet glaze. Perfect for a special breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1-2 teaspoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, and pumpkin pie spice until smooth and well combined.
  3. Unfold the puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface. Cut it into four equal squares.
  4. Spoon about 1-2 tablespoons of the pumpkin cream cheese filling onto the center of each puff pastry square.
  5. Gently fold two opposite corners of each square towards the center, overlapping them slightly to create a Danish shape. Alternatively, you can fold all four corners to meet in the center.
  6. Place the shaped Danishes onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg wash.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up.
  9. While the Danishes are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl until you have a smooth glaze. Add more milk a little at a time if needed to reach your desired consistency.
  10. Once the Danishes are removed from the oven, let them cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack.
  11. Drizzle the glaze over the warm Danishes.
  12. Serve warm and enjoy your homemade pumpkin cream cheese Danish!

Notes

  • Ensure your puff pastry is fully thawed but still cold for the best results.
  • Do not overfill the pastries, as the filling may leak out during baking.
  • Adjust the amount of milk in the glaze to achieve your preferred thickness.
