Make crispy, flavorful honey mustard tofu easily on one sheet pan. This recipe requires no frying and is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup broccoli florets (optional)
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the cubed tofu with cornstarch until lightly coated. This helps achieve crispiness.
  3. Place the coated tofu on one half of the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and toss gently.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, honey (or maple syrup), apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to create the glaze.
  5. If using vegetables, toss them with a small amount of oil, salt, and pepper and place them on the other half of the baking sheet.
  6. Bake the tofu and vegetables for 15 minutes.
  7. Remove the pan from the oven. Brush half of the honey mustard glaze over the tofu cubes.
  8. Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes.
  9. Remove the pan again, brush the remaining glaze over the tofu, and bake for a final 5-7 minutes, or until the tofu is golden brown and crispy.
  10. Serve immediately over rice or quinoa.

Notes

  • Pressing the tofu thoroughly is key to getting it crispy. Wrap the block in paper towels and place something heavy on top for at least 30 minutes.
  • For extra crispiness, you can toss the tofu with the cornstarch mixture and bake it plain for 10 minutes before adding any glaze.
  • If you prefer a thicker glaze, reduce the amount of vinegar slightly.
