Ingredients
Scale
1 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons Creole mustard
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon Creole or Cajun seasoning
1 teaspoon hot sauce (like Tabasco)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon finely chopped green onion (scallion)
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
Gather all your ingredients. You will need a medium bowl for mixing.
Place the mayonnaise, Creole mustard, ketchup, prepared horseradish, paprika, Creole seasoning, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper into the bowl.
Whisk the ingredients together until the sauce is completely smooth and uniform in color.
Stir in the chopped green onion and fresh parsley until they are evenly distributed throughout the sauce.
Taste the sauce. If you desire more heat, add a few extra dashes of hot sauce. If you want more tang, add a small splash more lemon juice.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate the remoulade sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving. This chilling time allows the bold flavors to meld together.
Serve this zesty homemade sauce with fried shrimp, crab cakes, Po’ Boys, or as a tangy dipping sauce for fries.
Notes
For the best flavor, use a high-quality Creole mustard. This ingredient provides the signature tang.
This sauce is excellent when made ahead. It tastes even better the next day.
If you are serving this with fried green tomatoes or artichokes, thin the sauce slightly with a teaspoon of water or pickle juice for a better drizzling consistency.
