Ingredients
Scale
1 cup dill pickle chips or slices, well-drained
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon water
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried dill weed
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Cooking spray (oil-based)
Instructions
Pat the pickle slices very dry using paper towels. This step is important for crispiness.
Set up a three-station breading area: one shallow dish with flour, salt, and pepper; one shallow dish with beaten eggs and water; and one shallow dish with panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, dried dill, and onion powder.
Dredge each pickle slice first in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
Dip the floured pickle into the egg wash, letting excess drip off.
Coat the pickle thoroughly in the panko mixture, pressing gently so the breading adheres well.
Place the coated pickles in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overlap them.
Lightly spray the tops of the pickles with cooking spray.
Air fry at 390F (200C) for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through. Spray the second side lightly with cooking spray before flipping.
Continue cooking until the coating is golden brown and crispy.
Serve immediately with your preferred dipping sauce.
Notes
For extra crispiness, chill the breaded pickles on a wire rack for 15 minutes before air frying.
Use thin pickle slices for the best results in the air fryer.
A creamy ranch or spicy aioli pairs well with the garlic dill flavor.
